Who would hesitate to join a welcoming group of humorous people? The unique culture of JV2, encouraged by cultural diversity and nurtured by the coaches and players, is best known for its relaxed atmosphere and student-led practice sessions. Inclusion embarks in our nature, and supportive comments are not lacking. Of course, coaches do a great job of leading our team to practice passing, shooting, and dribbling.
We are a few games into the soccer season, with an appealing win-loss record of 2 0-1 (W-T-L). After a few dominant wins against Turners Falls and Pioneer Regional High, we faced tough opposition at Deerfield Academy. Of course, we discover new things to study in every game, regardless of the result. For example, communication is the greatest challenge that we are preparing to tackle.
Our members include Leo Wan ’24, Sebastian Woo ’24, Jeremy Fang ’24, Matthew Zhang ’24, Julian Shin ’24, Adrian Shin ’24, Christopher Pearman ’24, William Frith ’25, Henrik Pang ’25, James Dorrian ’25, Whitney Bedell ’25, Iñaki Olivares ’25, Minsung Kang ’25, Dima Pikarskyi ’25, Bea Lakey ’27, and Maddie Fay ’27. Our roster will not be complete without our coaches. With a merry attitude every day, our beloved Mr. Miles Harlow and Mr. Nicholas Sadnytzky always greet our players with big smiles. Of course, our head coach, Mr. Carter Townsend ’88, plays a vital role in the team. A little bit of strictness mixed with occasional humor is what everyone on the team would agree on when describing Mr. Townsend. He makes sure we follow the rules, have respect for opponents, and make sure we are following the practice plans.
I don’t know about the future success of our team, but one thing I know for sure is that when I graduate, I will remember this team that instilled so much happiness in me.
