Country Fair 2023: Sustainability Update

As the school year begins, the Sustainability Committee foresees another sustainable year for Eaglebrook. However, the Sustainability Committee began working much sooner than the school year as its returning members held meetings over the summer to plan for the upcoming year. Some ideas discussed were gardening in Mayer and operating the Sustainability Committee with dorm leaders. These leaders selected from each dorm would help the committee operate in smaller sizes.
During the first committee meetings, students were divided into three groups. Most students assist with the Morning Assembly preparation, Patrick Zhang ’24 is responsible for the Sustainability posters, and Yuzu Emoto ’25 and Mr. McClure take care of the water testing results.
The Fill It Forward initiative, encouraged by the Sustainability Com- mittee in all dorms, is an easy and effective way to raise money and awareness for many charitable causes. Students and faculty were granted their own Fill It Forward bottles upon entering campus. Just scanning these QR code water bottles every time you fill them up can help more than 360 sustainability causes globally.
With multiple meetings held weekly, I am thrilled about the progress that the Sustainability Committee will make this year. Currently, the Leaders from each dorm are Roy Bulsook ’24 and GD Lee ’24 for Taylor, Ryan Chen ’24 and Suyeong Hahn ’24 from Mayer, Caden Weischelbaumer ’24 and Hans Yu ’24 from Flagler, Ben Cha ’24 and Henry Choi ’24 from Kravis, Jay Seo ’24 and Aiden Lee ’24 from Eaglesnest and Paul Rhee ’24 and Tony Zhu ’25 from Halsted.
