Country Fair 2023: CPR Training Day

Of Eaglebrook’s many traditions, one of the most useful is CPR Training Day. This year on CPR day, all of the students were broken up into groups (which included students of all forms) and led through different stations where they learned CPR and first-aid skills.

At each station, students were taught by both Eaglebrook faculty along Wild Med employees, the company hired by the school to lead the instruction. The stations taught us all kinds of valuable and life-saving information relating to topics such as burns, heat stroke and exhaustion, anaphylaxis, cuts, head trauma, cardiovascular issues, frostbite and hypothermia, sprains, choking, and allergic emergencies.

We also learned valuable skills such as how to assess a person by using methods to figure out what’s wrong with them, like the acronym SAMPLE, for example, which stands for S= signs and symptoms, A=allergies, M=meds, P=past medical history, L= last-in and last-out and E= events. We also learned how to use an epi-pen and a defibrillator, and especially how to perform CPR.

While this year’s CPR day was a huge success, hopefully, none of the students will ever have to use what they learned.
