Water polo is a competitive sport where seven players on each of the two teams swim back and forth across the pool in order to gain ball control. At Eaglebrook, this sport provides us boys the opportunity to discover a rougher side to ourselves that we can use at competitive water polo practices.

For the first few weeks of practice, the players learn the fundamental basics of water polo. This includes passing, shooting, swimming, and simple strategies that proved to be useful during scrimmages. In the following weeks, the coaches teach the players more advanced formations and techniques. On October 13, the JV water polo team will be having their very first official scrimmage game of the year. In order to prepare, many students who are completely new to the sport are completing various drills in order to see improvement at next year’s game. For now, they are working hard to make it into the Varsity water polo team next year.

The JV water polo team is coached by Mr. Russ Yarworth, Ms. Andrea Rawson, and Ms. Brie Harnden. The players include Allan Chen ’26, Jay Cho ’26, William Keber ’27, YD Lee ’24, Louis Liu ’26, Mojo MacMillan ’25, Howard Ng ’25, Charles Ridall ’25, Jacob Shin ’25, Knox Vitrano ’24, Oscar Wang ’26, Max Yao ’26, Nolan Yellin ’24, Prescott Zee ’25, Eric Zhang ’25, and Branden Zhang ’25.
