Country Fair 2023: Mountain Day

Mountain Day is a truly special tradition at Eaglebrook. As a returning student, I have experienced this event and am especially hyped to participate once again this year.
During Mountain Day, the whole school settles into buses to be driven to Mount Monadnock, a local mountain. We are given food and drinks to take with us on the hike, and we go for it. When you venture up to a certain altitude and look down, the sapphire-blue lakes and rich- green forests stretch before your very eyes. It sure is a brilliant sight. After hiking for the whole morning tirelessly, you finally reach the top. However, the summit of this mountain is unique. There are no trees, just bare rock. This is because of the massive, manmade fires spread in 1801. It is also extremely windy due to the treeless top.
As you enjoy your time and rest with your buddies, students often hang up flags, another Eaglebrook tradition. You eat your lunch and head back down the mountain knowing you’ve had a memorable, tiring day.
This year’s Mountain Day was not as much different. It was a glorious, sunny day and I enjoyed the summit view as I ate my turkey sandwich. I enjoyed sliding off the slippery rocks, as it was unique to this mountain. The pebbles, tiny shallow pools of rainwater, and the colorful trees were some of the memories that I have cherished from Mountain Day these years
