Rocks, Roots, Mud, are the words associated with mountain biking. The rocks require you to have advanced techniques, the roots make your tires slip and slide, and the mud makes your bike all mucky and wet. Mountain biking requires technique and experience before hitting the trails. For example, on a trail called the “TNT”, which is an uphill trail, you find yourself gliding over an exposed root on a sharp turn to the left. The riders shift their weight to the front and pedal over the root. Before going downhill, the “Ready Position” is essential. The “Ready Position” is when the riders bend their knees, elbows wide apart, and lean back down to the back of the bike.
The mountain biking team has been practicing for the upcoming competition on October 7th against Cardigan Mountain School. Many of the new riders have significantly improved their techniques and experience by shredding the trail on Eaglebrook.
