On July 21, 2023, Pine Nook Road was hit with a terrible rainstorm for three hours. In total, there were about eight inches of rain, and five of those inches just within the first hour. This was very bad for Pine Nook Road because the month of July had already been a wet one for Eaglebrook. As a result of all the rain, the water flowed down Pine Nook Road at a high speed. Luckily, the town of Deerfield was quick to respond and closed the road.

The downpour of rain also affected Taylor House’s lawn with a mudslide, and the stairs on the path to the rink by completely washing them out. All this rain also caused problems for the brand-new turf that everyone loves. Thankfully, within the span of eight weeks, the town of Deerfield was able to repave Pine Nook road and improve the road’s drainage. The installation of the amazing synthetic turf field was also finally finished.

After all this hard work, the maintenance team is ready to help build the access road from the maintenance headquarters building to the Infirmary Field, right after Country Fair, to start working on the new dining hall around April 2024. According to our project manager Mr. Wes Smith, the new dining hall will be able to seat 400 people and will have ventilation and radiant floors. The great thing about this project is that along with the main kitchen, there will also be a teaching kitchen for students who want to learn the culinary arts. Mr. Smith says that the construction will be completed by the summer of 2025, and we look forward to what’s next.
