Every year, Eaglebrook students vote to select members of the Student Council. It is a group of Ninth Grade leaders who work together as a group to maintain a thriving community at Eaglebrook. They listen to the ideas of the student body, communicate with the administration and set positive role models for other students. Every week, the Student Council members hold a meeting with Ms. Blain and Mr. Chase ‘73 to discuss the important issues brought up by the council and the student body.
Currently, the Student Council focuses on promoting various community events and tournaments. The Eaglebrook Stickball tournament as well as the Eaglebrook Tennis Tournament have been major successes in the past years by bringing a ton of casual and fun competition to Eaglebrook. The Council wants to create more engaging events and implement them into a full year schedule instead of just in the spring. Some examples of tournaments could be a spikeball tournament, chess tournament or even a basketball or broomball tournament.
Another topic the Student Council is focusing on right now is Spirit Week. Spirit Week is a week when students and Faculty dress up according to a theme every different day. In past years, Spirit Week included Twin Day where two or more people dress in matching outfits. Another theme was Merch Day where students and faculty wore all the Eaglebrook Merchandise they could find. Spirit Week is a great way to help strengthen and connect the Eaglebrook Community.
The Student Council will continue to work with the administration to reflect the ideas of the student body, create opportunities for involvement in the school, and help create a better experience for every student at Eaglebrook.
The 2024 Eaglebrook Student Council is led by Ms. Blain and consists of President Harry Kim ’24, Vice President Brad Mallory ’24, Secretary/Treasurer Evan Williams ’24, Stefan Flaska ’24, Charlie Mosier ’24, Paul Kung ’24, Peter Lakey ’24, and Nicolas Potts ’24.
