Country Fair 2023: Thirds Soccer

Article from the Country Fair 2023 Hearth Issue
Soccer is a world-renowned sport that requires precision and stamina. Each day, the Thirds soccer players work hard to improve their skills. Practice starts at 3:15 p.m. after classes and ends at 4:30 p.m. Coaches Ms. Brittany Inch and Mr. Drew Parsons ’16, work hard to give us drills that not only help us get better but are enjoyable. Some of these drills include World Cup, Lightning, and trapping drills. Playing the World Cup drill reenacts real games with defense and offense. It allows us to incorporate what we learn during practice into a realistic game. Lightning is a drill that teaches you to shoot with only one touch. Trapping drills force us to control the ball when it has been passed to us to stay in possession.
As of this writing, we have played three games and are currently undefeated. The first game was against Wilbraham & Monson Academy and the score was 3-2. We beat Athol Middle School by a score of 5-2, and, most recently, had a 4-0 win over Mahar Regional Middle School.
The players on the Thirds soccer are Duncan Bedell ’27, Rafa Buerba ’24, Andrew Choi ’25, Grant Fan ’25, Colin Galli ’26, Charlie Hutchison ’25, Alonso Jurado ’26, Xavier Lake ’25, Daniel Pang ’27, Edward Rim ’25, Jack Shaw ’26, Toby Teng ’27, Alex Wang ’25, Connor Williams ’25, Alex Xi ’25, Frank Zhang ’25, and Kyle Zhang ’25.
