Varsity water polo this year has a disciplined, hard-working, and talented group of individuals. Water polo requires an extraordinary amount of dedication and perseverance. We played against Suffield Academy for our season opener last week, with a winning score of 20-10. We then played against St. John’s Prep securing a 19-10 win and against Loomis Chaffee winning 7-9.
Water polo practices are strenuous and fatiguing but it pays off in games. Practices start with dry land training consisting of workouts and stretches. Following that, we hop in the pool to start our swimming, warm-up, and some conditioning work. After warm-ups, we pass, shoot, and run our plays. Unsurprisingly, everyone on the team works really hard and I can only visualize the team getting better. Our opponent teams vary in skill and experience, but we know from now on it is only going to get harder for us. We have games against Westminster and Deerfield Academy coming up. Despite our size and age disadvantage, we continue to be determined and driven to win.
