JV Squash

Squash is a very popular sport that is emerging in the United States. Since it is very liked amongst hundreds of thousands of people, Eaglebrook has made it into a sports elective. There are three teams this season: Thirds, JV, and Varsity.
After the activity period, JV Squash meets in courts 3, 4, and 5. We are led through countless stretches and warmups for our rigorous training sessions. The exercises include jogging, side shuffle, running laps, and lots of stretching. We do this as a team in order to warm up our muscles to prevent injuries. When practicing squash and playing all together, we prepare for our matches and help us improve our skills. We focus on different aspects of the game each day. One day, we may only hit straight shots down the line to improve our play style. Rails, drops, boasts, serves, and drives are mainly the shots we focus on. For example, a rail shot is when you hit the ball down the line near the sidewalls. Perfecting each shot is the key to becoming a better player.
We all have fun throughout practice by playing training games against each other or playing King of the Court. It is a game that is fun and helpful to our progression in squash. There is a player in the King spot and once they lose the point, the player serving will now be the King.
Twice a week, we have challenge matches. Players on the team are ranked 1 to 12. They are motivated to keep their spot so that they do not fall down the ladder. The number one JV player can challenge the last spot on the Varsity team to advance to the higher team. These are competitive matches that show which players are better than others. Our ladder constantly changes every week so when playing against other schools, we will have a better chance at beating them.
As the JV squash team plays against other schools, we all wish good luck for this team's season. We’ve had games against Deerfield Academy, Berkshire, and Salisbury so far, with many more planned.
The JV squash team consists of 12 players:
Henry Choi ’24, Yuzu Emoto ’26, Grant Fan ’25, Jeremy Fang ’24, Leo Feng ’25, Dylan Kang ’25, TK Lee ’25, Louis Liu ’26, Rowan Muzzy ’25, Dima Pikarskyi ’25, Nathan Pang ’25, Tiger Wu ’24
