The ‘23-’24 swim team has had a distinctive season so far. Our team has participated in three swim meets so far. Although our team faced many challenges in the first few weeks, we managed to overcome the obstacles and experience growth through unity. Our first meet was against Suffield Academy. We had expected a tough meet as we had fewer swimmers than they did. Despite this, our hard work in every practice led us to Eaglebrook’s victory. The second meet against Phillips Academy Andover proved tough. We faced a daunting team of skilled swimmers. Despite our loss, it was an exciting opportunity to compete and learn from these strong opponents. Our team showcased sportsmanship and resilience, cheering on our teammates and giving our best effort throughout the arduous match. Our third meet was against The Bement School. We arrived early and did some warm-ups in the swimming pool. This included some slow and relaxed swimming in the stroke we would be doing for the meet, but also some sprints to get our heart rates up. The meet was extremely exciting and we ended up with a win. Many of us tried new events, and many got personal bests.
A normal day at the pool starts with a five-minute warm-up swim, followed by kicking drills. Then, the team completes two to three hard workouts sets. This could be any of the four swimming strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, or butterfly. Sometimes, we would also practice swimming starts. At the end of practice, we usually have a final cool-down swimming set. This intense training drastically helps us in our meets.
The team is led by head coach Russ Yarworth and assistant coaches Brianna Harnden and Andie Rawson. The team consists of Roy Bulsook ‘24, Saxon Girodet ‘25, Suyeong Hahn ‘24, Kevin Hong ‘26, Zane Hong ‘24, Charlie Hutchinson ‘25, Daeho Kim ‘26, Bodie Lanning ‘24, GD Lee ‘24, YD Lee ‘24, Xuanyi Li ‘25, Rose Mallory ‘24, Ethan Ng ‘24, Howard Ng ‘25, Christopher Pearman ‘24, Paul Rhee ‘24, Jay Seo ‘24, Jacob Shin ‘25, Riley Smith ‘27, Thomas Tejapaibul ‘24, Prescott Zee ‘25, Eric Zhang ‘25, and Patrick Zheng ‘24.
